Essential Oils for Anxiety and Stress Relief
Aromatherapy, by its very nature, means that plants being used do not have to be ingested but need only to be inhaled in small doses for it to be effective.
Simply inhaling the oil of Patchouli and Rose plants may significantly reduce nervous activity in some people.
Lavender and Chamomile have proven therapeutic benefits as they help alleviate symptoms of aggression and lower cortisol levels too.
Lemon is another trusted favourite, excellent for reducing stress levels and providing relief.

How Do Essential Oils Work? Essential oils affect the human body in different ways. When a person inhales the scent of essential oils, its airborne molecules will reach the olfactory system. The olfactory system, also known as our “sense of smell”, is made up of different cells that relate to many parts of the human body’s sensory system. The airborne odor molecules inhaled from essential oils may also reach the lungs thus affecting the respiratory system. 8 However, how do these odor molecules travel to the different parts of the body? This is made possible by our body’s receptor sites in the limbic system. Experts also refer to the limbic system as the “emotional brain”. The limbic system is called the “emotional brain” because it is directly linked to the areas of the brain responsible for regulating heart rate, memory, hormone levels, breathing and stress levels. This also explains why scents or fragrances can have profound effects on a person’s psychological and physiological facets. dd a description here.
